Contrary to some people's opinions, rocking chairs are not only for the elderly. Mothers enjoy rocking chairs, and sometimes, I think, their little ones enjoy them just as much. Folding rocking chairs are a good alternative, for they can be taken different places since they are so portable and lightweight.
Early one morning, when Mrs. White woke up, she went into the dining room and saw her three-year-old sitting quietly and rocking herself in the family's new folding rocking camping chair, next to the Coleman quad chair. It was quite a comfortable chair, with big, soft arm rests; a high back, and an ample cushioning seat. Since little Sarah was happy, Mrs. White left her there as she went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for her husband, Sarah, and herself.
When she was finished preparing a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs and turkey, blueberry pancakes, honey crepes, and a cantaloupe and honeydew salad, Mrs. White again journeyed through the living room, only to see little Sarah fast asleep in the folding rocking camping chair. Mrs. White was amazed at how Sarah could have fallen asleep with all the noise and aroma coming from the kitchen. Deciding that she would first let her husband know that breakfast was ready before she woke up sleeping Sarah, Mrs. White quietly went back into her room.
After she told her husband that breakfast was ready, she also told him that little Sarah was dreaming her second dream in the folding rocking camping chair he had recently bought along with the Coleman quad chair because they were both on clearance.
Walking together back to the kitchen, Mr. and Mrs. White observed little Sarah for a while; then Mr. White woke her up gently and told her it was time for breakfast. “I had a good nap in the rocking chair while you cooked breakfast, Mommy!” Sarah had definitely slept well.
After a delicious breakfast, little Sarah helped Daddy and Mommy clean up. Then, she went back to her favorite spot in the house—the folding rocking camping chair. There she played with her baby dolls and their cribs.
When Mrs. White was finished with her jobs, she came over to Sarah's new playing place. “Sarah, would you like me to read to you?” asked Mrs. White. Sarah's eyes lit up.
“Yes, Mommy! Read a book!” Mrs. White got out her almost ancient copy of The Story of the Bible and continued where they had left off the day before. The story was about Noah and the ark. Sarah really enjoyed the story, and her eyes grew big when she saw the pictures of all the animals. Mrs. White pointed to the animals as she said their names.
“Here are the elephants. They have really big trunks so they can drink water. Here are the giraffes. God made their necks really long so that they can reach leaves up high so that they can eat. The kangaroos carry their babies in a pouch. See right here?” Sarah enjoyed learned about the animals.
Next, Mrs. White read some of Aesop's fables to Sarah. She enjoyed those as well. Soon it was time for Mrs. White to prepare lunch, and reading time was over for that day for Mrs. White and Sarah in the folding rocking camping chair. |
